Feeling dumb.
U.S. President George W. Bush has said he regrets some of his blunt statements on his war on terrorism over the last eight years and wishes he had not spoken in front of a Mission Accomplished banner only a month after U.S. troops in Iraq were deployed. He says that his wife has reminded him over the years that as president of the United States, he should be careful of the things he says. On Tuesday, the president also referenced the moment aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln on May 1, 2003, during which he declared an end to major combat operations in Iraq. They had a sign that said Mission Accomplished. Some say Bush thought the war in Iraq was over, But nonetheless, it conveyed the wrong message.
